While the first stanza narrates the degeneration from great promises and beginning given to us, the second stanza uses the same images to forge optimism and our need to persist with hope for future. Whether it is politics, environment or (as I see it)the seeds of hatred planted between communities by politicians for personal gains, I still feel "We Plant trees for those born later" is a metaphor ... an instruction to us, to work our way to neutralize the toxins of hatred and discimination for presenting a better world to the coming generations.
